Since its inception in 2018 Bellcon have played a major role in the New Zealand water industry facilitating the project and construction management, installation and commissioning for a number of major projects throughout New Zealand.
Whau Valley WTP
Bellcon were engaged to project manage the construction of a new 22MLD water treatment plant to meet current standards and provide resilience to the supply of drinking water to Whangarei. Today the plant is considered a critical piece of infrastructure for the city.

The scope of the project included all procurement, construction management, commissioning, handover and liaison with the client. Key elements of the role included; establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with the client (WDC) and the designer (Beca), working collaboratively with stakeholders, coordination of multi-disciplinary subcontractors, planning the testing and commissioning phase, and physical installation of the chemical dosing system.
Pakpakura WTP
The Papakura Water Treatment Plant is one of the most advanced treatment plants in New Zealand. A project was started to boost Auckland’s water supply with the construction of a new 12MLD Water Treatment Facility. The facility went into service on Thursday 31 August, 2023.

Bellcon played a crucial role during the early contractor involvement (ECI) phase, which encompassed procurement, site supervision of the mechanical package and eventual commissioning. The scope of the project included facilitation of the mechanical design, supplier engagement, management of the chemical dosing design and supervising at the installation phase with the nominated sub-contractor.

Once construction was nearing completion, Bellcon managed the pre-commissioning documentation then facilitated the Watercare team to achieve hot
Snells/Algies WTP Upgrade
The primary objectives of this project were to Increase the capacity of the plant by replacing the filters and installing a clarifier, removing iron and manganese from the bore water and treating the water to comply with Taumata Arowai's Drinking Water Standard 2022.

This was a design and build contract and the scope of the project included a new flocculation system, washout systems and pumping, a new clarification system, two AVG filters and associated level and turbidity instruments, chlorine dosing modifications, electrical systems upgrade, wastewater management including dechlorination and online monitoring, modification and disinfection of treated water line, testing and commissioning as well as Numerous tie-ins to live plant.
Mangawhai WWTP Stage 1 upgrade
Bellcon were engaged by Kaipara district council to design, build and install a new inDense system to the plant, the project included pump sizing, line sizing, electrical design and installation and supply of equipment, pipework and electrical works.
Waikato 50
Bellcon were engaged by Fletcher Construction and Watercare to assist with the construction and the commissioning of the Waikato 50 extension to the Waikato Water treatment plant. Bellcon engineers worked closely as part of the wider construction team to deliver the project in a tight timeframe to meet ‘water on’ requirements.
